What different types of wedding headdresses are available?

Before choosing a headdress and veil, you should first choose your dress or outfit. The style and formality of the dress will determine what type of headdress would be appropriate. For example, a floor length veil with a tiara would not pair well with a calf length dress for a casual wedding on the beach.

Also you should try and decide on your hair style beforehand so that when you go shopping online you have a picture in your mind of the effect you wish to create. Having that information, there are several different headdress styles available.

  •  A comb is great for brides with short hair or for brides who want their dress to be the centerpiece of their wedding attire. The flowers, beads or jewels are attached to the comb, which is then secured in the hair.
  • A bridal crown can have flowers, beads or semi-precious stones attached. It is a wonderful choice to accompany a traditional gown or if you are planning to wear an up-do.
  • A halo is a ring that has flowers, beads, stones or a combination of these and is worn with or without a veil. A halo again works well for brides with short hair or who plan to wear their hair in a pinned up style.
  • A tiara is a very traditional choice and is just as it’s name implies. It is perfect for almost any hair style or wedding gown.
  • A fascinator is a relatively new idea and is gaining in popularity with both the leading lady and the proud mother-of-the-bride. These can be decorated with beads, flowers, feathers, etc., and make a superb replacement for the more formal hat.
  • A chaplet, or wreath, is a very traditional and timeless bridal headdress and, like the tiara, will look stunning with the majority of wedding dress styles.
